Global Health Perspectives Among Radiation Oncology Residency Program Directors: A Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Survey

Interest in global health has risen among medical students applying to and residents training in radiation oncology, often outpacing available educational offerings.

Evaluation of three rapid lateral flow antigen detection tests for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection

Study evaluated Sofia, Standard Q and Panbio™ rapid antigen detection tests. All three tests reached more than 90% sensitivity for samples with a high viral load. The RADTs were less sensitive than RT-PCR but benefit from the speed and ease of testing. Repeated testing in appropriate settings may improve the overall performance.

Think of the Children: Evaluation of SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test in Pediatric Population

SARS-CoV-2 is the reference laboratory method to diagnose the disease. The sensitivity of Panbio COVID-19 Ag Rapid Test Device is lower in children than in adults. However, considering the good values of specificity, negative and positive predictive values this test could be used as a frontline test to obtain quick results.

Highlighted Prospects of an IgM/IgG Antibodies Test in Identifying Individuals With Asymptomatic Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Infection

Covert severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections could be seeding new outbreaks. To explore the roles of immunoglobulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IG) antibodies detection, nucleic acid tests, and computed tomography (CT) scanning to identify asymptomatic SARS- CoV- 2 infection

Association of Age With SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Response

Children infected with SARS-CoV-2 are more likely to have mild symptoms and are at a lower risk of developing the severe respiratory disease compared with adults. It remains unknown how the immune response in children differs from that of adolescents and adults.

The importance of anosmia, ageusia and age in community presentation of symptomatic and asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection in Louisiana, USA; a cross-sectional prevalence study

Study focused on the nature and frequency of symptomatic and asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection. A sample of 4778 adults from New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana were given a survey of symptoms and co-morbidities

Combined written and oral information prior to gastrointestinal endoscopy compared with oral information alone: a randomized trial

Little is known how to most effectively deliver relevant information to patients scheduled for endoscopy. We designed a prospective study in two Swiss teaching hospitals. Written information led to more favorable assessments of the quality of the information.

Endoscopy-based triage significantly reduces hospitalization rates and costs of treating upper GI bleeding: a randomized controlled trial

Many patients with upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding have a benign outcome and could receive less intensive and costly care if accurately identified. Early endoscopy performed shortly after admission in the emergency department safely triaged 46% of patients with nonvariceal upper GI bleeding to outpatient care.
