Cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC for malignant ascites from colorectal cancer - a randomized study
The efficacy of different timings of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in controlling malignant ascites caused by colorectal cancer is not well defined. The patients were randomized to: CRS, followed by HIPEC and ultrasound-guided HIPEC. The endpoints were complete remission rate of ascites, successful complete CRS rate, and overall survival.
