[Hygiene measures against COVID-19 in routine outpatient care : Acceptance by the patients?]
No screening with rapid antigen tests has yet been established. More than half the responders reported to receive a mouth-nose covering (yes, maybe 142 (27%) patients), with more patients older than 60 years (Yes, yes, maybe. 142 (26%) patients, with significantly (p < 0.05) more patients (yes,. yes, perhaps 142 (24%) patients) and more patients over 60 years old (Yes,. maybe. 43%) Some of the most demanding patients are those with more than one parent.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) universal screening in gravids during labor and delivery
Pregnant women screened for SARS-CoV-2 with RT-PCR swab tests and detection of serum immunoglobulin (Ig) testing. The prevalence of acute or past Sars-Cov-2 infection was 9.0%. In our cohort of gravity, we found 2.2% of women with positive RT-PRC tests and 6.7% with positive serological tests.
COVID-19 vaccine development: a pediatric perspective
Multiple vaccine candidates with reassuring safety and efficacy profiles have advanced to phase 3 clinical trials in adults. Operation Warp Speed aims to accelerate the development of a safe and effective vaccine by early 2021. Children of all ages are at risk for SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe disease manifestations.
No evidence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA among blood donors: A multicenter study in Hubei, China
From February 9, all blood establishments in Hubei province, China, implemented nucleic acid testing (NAT) for SARS-CoV-2 RNA among blood donors to ensure blood safety. As of April 30, 2020, a total of 98,342 blood donations including 87,095 whole blood donations and 11,247 platelets were tested by ID or MP testing, and no RNAemia was found.
Interventions to reduce social isolation and loneliness during COVID-19 physical distancing measures: A rapid systematic review
A significant proportion of the worldwide population is at risk of social isolation and loneliness as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many effective interventions involved cognitive or educational components or facilitated communication between peers. Future high-quality randomized controlled trials conducted under social distancing constraints are urgently needed.
Risk factors for poor outcomes in hospitalised COVID-19 patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Understanding risk factors for poor outcomes among COVID-19 patients could help identify vulnerable populations who would need prioritization in prevention and treatment for COVID-19. The study looked at studies published between January and May 2020 that reported adjusted effect size of any demographic and/or clinical factors for any of the three poor outcomes. Mortality, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, and invasive mechanical ventilation were the three outcomes. Older age, obesity, diabet
Continuation of telemedicine in otolaryngology post-COVID-19: Applications by subspecialty
The purpose of this paper reviews the literature and compiles key clinically relevant applications of telemedicine for use in otolaryngology relevant to the post-COVID-19 era. The sudden healthcare closures during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a sharp increase in the use of telemedicine. Otolaryngologists are at a unique risk of infection resulting from the examination of the head and neck. The risk of future waves of this pandemic, or the onset of another pandemic should not be overlooked.
JAK-inhibitor and type I interferon ability to produce favorable clinical outcomes in COVID-19 patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis
SARS-CoV-2 has already infected over 63 million people worldwide. Janus kinase-inhibitors and Type I interferons have emerged as potential antiviral candidates. A search of MEDLINE and MedRxiv was conducted by three investigators from inception until July 30th, 2020. Data with clearly indicated risk estimates were included. Janus kinase-inhibitor treatment is significantly associated with positive clinical outcomes in terms of mortality, ICU admission, and discharge. While these data show promis
