Clinical importance of cold polypectomy during the insertion phase in the left side of the colon and rectum: a multicenter randomized controlled trial (PRESECT study)
Colorectal polyps are often detected during the insertion phase of colonoscopy. This prospective, multicenter, randomized trial targeted patients with at least 1 left-sided polyp detected unintentionally on endoscope insertion from April 2018 to March 2019.
Cumulative evidence for reducing recurrence of colonic diverticular bleeding using endoscopic clipping versus band ligation: Systematic review and meta-analysis
We conducted a systematic review to determine the most common endoscopic treatment for the colonic ridge. Rebleeding is a significant clinical outcome, but there is no evidence that it is a big deal. We found that the area around the ridge is more likely to have a long-term effect on the health of the body. We also found the area has a high level of overall hemostatic effects.
The Hepatitis C Awareness Through to Treatment (HepCATT) study: improving the cascade of care for hepatitis C virus-infected people who inject drugs in England
Introducing a half-time facilitator into drug and alcohol clinics in England increased engagement of HCV-positive people who inject drugs with hepatitis C virus care pathways.
A multicenter, single-blind randomized controlled trial of endoscopic clipping closure for preventing coagulation syndrome after colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection
Post endoscopic submucosal dissection coagulation syndrome (PECS) occasionally occurs after ESD. We conducted a randomized controlled trial to assess the usefulness of endoscopic clipping closure to prevent PECS.
Systematic review: the quality of the scientific evidence and conflicts of interest in international inflammatory bowel disease practice guidelines
The study examined inflammatory bowel disease guidelines for quality of evidence, methods of grading evidence, and conflicts of interest. Nearly half the IBD guideline recommendations are based on expert opinion or no evidence
Effect of chromoendoscopy in the proximal colon on colorectal neoplasia detection in Lynch syndrome: a multicenter randomized controlled trial
Chromoendoscopy has been reported to improve neoplasia detection compared with conventional white-light endoscopy. This was a multicenter prospective randomized controlled trial of 246 patients with Lynch syndrome.
Strategies for discontinuation of proton pump inhibitors: a systematic review
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are considered to be overprescribed. We conducted a systematic review of clinical studies on the discontinuation of PPIs. Discontinuations were reported across all studies ranging from 14% to 64% without deteriorating symptom control. Tapering seems to be a more effective discontinuation strategy than abrupt discontinuation.
Levels of evidence in endoscopic ultrasonography: a systematic review
Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) literature is a prolific trend. EUS has matured and has proven its clinical impact on patient management. More quality research is needed to establish EUS as the best next intervention.
