The Colombian Chemoprevention Trial: 20-Year Follow-Up of a Cohort of Patients With Gastric Precancerous Lesions

Helicobacter pylori eradication and endoscopic surveillance of gastric precancerous lesions are strategies to reduce gastric cancer (GC) risk. Anti–H pylori therapy (intention-to-treat) reduced the progression of the Correa score. Incomplete-type (vs complete-type) IM at. baseline presented higher GC risk. Anti–H pylori therapy had a long-term beneficial effect against histologic progression.

Participation in Competing Strategies for Colorectal Cancer Screening: A Randomized Health Services Study (PICCOLINO Study)

Primary colonoscopy and fecal immunochemical testing are considered first-tier tests for colorectal cancer screening. This was a multicenter randomized health services study performed within the framework of the Polish Colonoscopy Screening Program. Increased participation in strategies with FIT does not translate into higher detection of advanced neoplasia.

Association of the 2012 American Urological Association Vasectomy Guidelines with National Trends in Vasectomy Followup in the United States

The American Urological Association Vasectomy Guidelines published in 2012 defined vasectomy success as either azoospermia or rare nonmotile sperm. We identified men 18 to 64 years old undergoing vasectomy between 2007 and 2015 with at least 12 months of follow-up to track post-vasectomy semen analysis claims.

Potential Bias of Patient Payer Category on CG-CAHPS Scores and Its Impact on Physician Reimbursement

Commercial insurance and Medicare are associated with. higher patient satisfaction survey scores. Medicaid and Workers' Compensation are associated with lower scores.

Transperineal Prostate Biopsy Improves the Detection of Clinically Significant Prostate Cancer among Men on Active Surveillance

Transperineal biopsy associated with an increased likelihood of upgrading to clinically significant prostate cancer. This is likely due to better sampling of the anterior prostate with the transperineal approach, authors say.

Pregnancy‐related change in pQCT and bone biochemistry in a population with a habitually low calcium intake

Pregnant rural Gambians aged 18–45 years participated in a trial of antenatal nutritional supplements. Despite some evidence of change in bone metabolism, the peripheral skeleton was not mobilized as a Ca source for the fetus.

Colorectal Cancer Screening With Repeated Fecal Immunochemical Test Versus Sigmoidoscopy: Baseline Results From a Randomized Trial

The effectiveness of sigmoidoscopy and fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) for colorectal cancer screening is unknown. Colonoscopy was recommended after FIT if any polyp of 10 mm, 3 adenomas. The risk of perforation and bleeding was comparable. Participation was higher and more CRC and advanced adenomas were detected with repeated FIT compared to sigmoidoscopy.

Caveolin3 Stabilizes McT1-Mediated Lactate/Proton Transport in Cardiomyocytes

The aim was to identify differential CAV1 versus CAV3 protein interactions and to define the molecular basis of cardiacCAV3 loss-of-function. McT1 represents a novel class of metabolically relevant CAV3-specific interactors close to mitochondria in cardiomyocyte transverse tubules. CAv3 knockout uncovered a previously unknown role for functional stabilization of McT1 in the surface membrane of human cardiomyocytes.
