Early endoscopy in upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage: associations with recurrent bleeding, surgery, and length of hospital stay
Study: 909 consecutive hospitalized patients with the upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage who underwent endoscopy at 13 hospitals in a large metropolitan area. Results: Early endoscopes were associated with clinically significant reductions in the adjusted risk of recurrent bleeding or surgery.
Hypoxemia during outpatient gastrointestinal endoscopy: the effects of sedation and supplemental oxygen
In the town of Montclair, California, a city made headlines when it made headlines after its residents were asked to bring home their "ultimate" home for the holidays. The town's home was made the focus of a citywide search to see if its residents could be found with their "perfect" home in the next few days.
Comparison of urgent video capsule endoscopy and urgent double-balloon endoscopy in massive obscure gastrointestinal bleeding
No studies have specifically compared VCE and DBE in massive OGIB. Of 30 patients, DBE identified more bleeding lesions than VCE. Four patients (13%) had a negative study by both tests, and no further bleeding was reported.
Cardiorespiratory compromise under conscious sedation during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy
The study compared the cardiorespiratory effects of benzodiazepine and midazolam used for sedation in patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Study design: Comparative, randomized, single-blind study at Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, India. A total of 252 adult patients without previous cardiorespiratory co-morbidity were recruited.
Nitrous oxide sedation in pediatric patients undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy
The efficacy of using inhaled nitrous oxide during endoscopy in children was assessed in a pilot study. Patients aged 5 to 17 years were eligible for enrollment in the study.
Environmental safety of the 180-W GreenLight Laser: a pilot study on plume and irrigating fluids
The study analyzed surgical smoke and irrigation fluid produced during photoselective vaporization of the prostate. Four organic compounds were identified in the analyses of the smoke samples. In the analysis of fluid samples, 16 organic elements were identified.
Numerical simulations on periprosthetic bone remodeling: a systematic review
Femur and tooth were the most evaluated bone segment. The balance between computational cost and accuracy is needed to accurately simulate the bone remodeled phenomenon in the post-operative period, authors say.
Randomized Clinical Comparison of the Dual Therapy CD34 Antibody-Covered Sirolimus-Eluting Combo Stent with the Sirolimus-Eluting Orsiro Stent in Patients Treated with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: The SORT OUT X Trial
The dual therapy sirolimus-eluting and CD34+ antibody-coated Combo stent (DTS) was designed to further improve early healing. The SORT OUT X trial was a large-scale randomized, multicenter, single-blind, two-arm, non-inferiority trial. The primary endpoint was a composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction. The DTS did not confirm non-inferiority to the SES for target lesion failure at 12 months in an all-comer population.
