Diagnosis and Treatment of Overactive Bladder (Non-Neurogenic) in Adults: AUA/SUFU Guideline Amendment 2019
The purpose of this guideline is to provide a clinical framework for the diagnosis and treatment of non-neurogenic overactive bladder (OAB) The current document reflects relevant literature published through October 2018.
Clinical Outcome of a Modified Coracoid Tunnel-Free Coracoclavicular Sling Technique With Remnant Preservation for the Treatment of High-Grade Acromioclavicular Joint Separation: A Report of 48 Cases With 2 to 5 Years of Follow-up
High-grade acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation injuries (Rockwood type IV or V) are surgically indicated. The coracoid tunnel-free CC sling technique demonstrated significant improvement.
Incidence of Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Syndrome in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the Impact of Thiopurines on Their Risk
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) are rare clonal disorders that commonly affect the elderly population and have poor prognoses. We conducted a retrospective cohort study among patients with IBD from Veteran Affairs data set. The outcome of interest was a composite outcome of an incident diagnosis of AML and/or MDS.compared with never exposed to TPs, the current use of TPs was associated with an increased risk.
Nurse-Administered Propofol Continuous Infusion Sedation: A New Paradigm for Gastrointestinal Procedural Sedation
Nurse-Administered Propofol Continuous Infusion Sedation (NAPCIS) is a new non anesthesia propofol delivery method for gastrointestinal endoscopy. We evaluated the effectiveness, efficiency, and procedural success rates. On arrival at the recovery unit, 86.6% of N APCIS subjects were recorded as "Awake" compared to 99.2% in CAPS and MF controls.NAPCIS seems to be a safe, effective, and efficient way to means of providing moderate sedation for upper endoscopy and colonoscopy in low-risk patients.
Differences in Management of Coronary Artery Disease in Patients With Medicare Advantage vs Traditional Fee-for-Service Medicare Among Cardiology Practices
One-third of Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in Medicare Advantage (MA) Medicare Advantage incentivizes performance on evidence-based care. Study examined whether this translates into better quality for patients with coronary artery disease. Patients enrolled in MA were younger, less likely to be white, and more likely to have heart failure, diabetes,
Integrin α3β1 Is a Key Regulator of Several Protumorigenic Pathways during Skin Carcinogenesis
Infection rate in the overall population (n = 2,152,192) was 63.8 (95% confidence interval [CI] 61.8-65.8) per 100,000 person-years. Psoriasis incidence in the United States appears to increase with age, is similar between sexes. Incidence appears to be stable within a recent 5-year period.
Relationship between Three-Dimensional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Eyeball Shape and Optic Nerve Head Morphology
3D eyeball shape is associated with positions of the central retinal vascular trunk and the externally oblique border (EOB) in the optic nerve head. The deviation of the CRVT, as a surrogate of lamina cribrosa (LC) shift, was measured. The position of the CRVT and EOB was associated with the 3D eyeball shape. Various modes of eyeball expansion during growth can result in diverse directionalities of offset between the LC and the BMO in adults.
Efficacy and safety of the novel glycine transporter inhibitor BI 425809 once daily in patients with schizophrenia: a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled phase 2 study
Cognitive impairment associated with schizophrenia predicts poor functional outcomes. Currently, no approved pharmacotherapy is available. This study investigated whether the glycine transporter-1 inhibitor BI 425809 improves cognition in patients with schizophrenia. Five of six dose–response models showed a statistically significant benefit over placebo.
