Caregiver burden among those caring for patients with spina bifida
This document seeks to establish guidelines for the evaluation and management of women with recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI) It aims to prevent inappropriate use of antibiotics, decrease the risk of antibiotic resistance, reduce adverse effects of antibiotic use, and provide guidance on antibiotic and non-antibiotic strategies for prevention.
Prior loss of body mass index, low body mass index and central obesity independently contribute to higher rates of fractures in elderly women and men
The study was based on data from a Swedish cohort of 44 366 women and. men. A lower fracture rate with a higher baseline BMI was seen within every category of prior BMI change.
Levels of Evidence Supporting American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association and European Society of Cardiology Guidelines, 2008-2018
Across 26 current ACC/AHA guidelines, 8.5% of recommendations were classified as LOE A. When comparing current guidelines with prior versions, the proportion of recommendations that wereLOE A did not increase. This pattern does not appear to have meaningfully improved from 2008 to 2018.
Incidence of psoriasis among adults in the United States: A sex- and age-adjusted population analysis
Infection rate in the overall population (n = 2,152,192) was 63.8 (95% confidence interval [CI] 61.8-65.8) per 100,000 person-years. Psoriasis incidence in the United States appears to increase with age, is similar between sexes. Incidence appears to be stable within a recent 5-year period.
Myopia Prevalence and Ocular Biometry Features in a General Japanese Population
Study participants' corneal length, diameter, and thickness were measured. The distribution of these ocular biometric parameters and prevalence of myopia, high myopia, and extreme myopia were summarized. Results were based on data from the national population of 2015. The number of individuals with myopia or high myopia was higher in the younger age groups. The axial length of more than 30 mm was observed only in older women.
Autism-linked Cullin3 germline haploinsufficiency impacts cytoskeletal dynamics and cortical neurogenesis through RhoA signaling
E3-ubiquitin ligase Cullin3 (Cul3) is a high confidence risk gene for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and developmental delay (DD) We generated a haploinsufficient Cul3 mouse model using CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering.
Success and failure are dynamic, recurrent event states after surgical treatment for pelvic organ prolapse
The ideal measure of success after surgery for pelvic organ prolapse has long been debated. 85.5% (370 of 433) of surgical failure outcomes at a time point met only 1 component of the composite outcome. The study aimed to describe relationships and overlap among the participants who met the anatomic, subjective, and retreatment definitions of success or failure after pelvic organ prolapse surgery. Despite meeting the criteria for failure in primary study reporting, 24.2% of these transitioned be
Disparities in H1N1 Vaccination Rates: a Systematic Review and Evidence Synthesis to Inform COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts
African American/Black, Latino, and low-socioeconomic status participants had disproportionately lower H1N1 vaccination rates. Latinos were more likely than Whites to intend to be vaccinated. Factors potentially contributing to disparities included barriers to vaccine access, inadequate information, and concerns about vaccine safety and efficacy.
